Premium Wood Pellet Fuel

We make Curran Pellets with the help of our sister logging company, Seaway Timber Harvesting. The logging crews put the trees through a stroke delimber to remove branches and a flail chipper to remove the bark. This process leaves clean, green stems ready to chip for wood pellet production.  The wood chips are ground down then put through a dryer and ground a second time into sawdust. The sawdust is then extruded into pellets with pure compression and no additives or binders. The pellets then are passed through two shaker screens to remove sawdust and loose fines.

We take pride in the pellets we produce as we can control the raw material supply that goes into making our high-quality wood pellets. We are also proud of the certifications and accreditations our company has achieved from the hard work and dedication of all of our employees.

Curran Renewable Energy received qualification to the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) standards program as one of its first participants. This program is the only one of its kind in the United States. Producing quality fuel has always been our priority, and by taking this step, we are ensuring consistent wood fuel for our consumers. To meet the criteria of the PFI Standards Program, we work with an independent accredited auditing agency and testing laboratory that performs random monthly audits at our production facility to ensure we are following the premium grade quality program. Wood pellets are tested according to the program specifications through the PFI and its accredited lab at Timber Products Inspection. We also test in-house on a per-hour basis following the same specs. By taking these steps, we ensure that our pellet quality remains consistent.

As a program participant, we can proudly display the PFI Premium Graded Fuel Quality Mark on our pellet bags, signifying our qualification to the program requirements. We are one of the early adopters of this program and one of few that have qualified.

Curran Renewable Energy is also proud to be Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified. Curran Renewable Energy and Seaway Timber Harvesting are both FSC certified, and our wood pellet plant is the first Biomass facility to be FSC certified in North America. We are certified through Preferred by Nature. FSC is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. FSC defines standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest stewardship that are supported by environmental, social, and economic stakeholders. To learn more, visit www.fsc.org.

It is important to us to provide the highest quality wood pellets to our customers, and our participation in these programs is a symbol of our commitment.
